The Skin You Live In
With the ease and simplicity of a nursery rhyme, The Skin You Live In delivers an important message about race, inclusion, and social acceptance to young readers.
Michael Tyler’s kid-friendly, rhythmic prose promotes friendship, acceptance, self-esteem, and diversity. David Lee Csicsko’s vivid illustrations of children swimming in the ocean, hugging, and catching butterflies depict what connects children everywhere: play.
Published by Chicago Children’s Museum, this delightful picture book offers a wonderful venue through which parents and teachers can discuss important social concepts with their children.
The Skin You Live In is available in print and as an ebook.
In addition, Fifth House Ensemble recorded a musical performance of The Skin You Live In at the Museum with author Michael Levin, illustrator David Lee Csicsko, and a few super students.
