Carrie Gosch Early Learning Center
East Chicago, Indiana
In 2018, The Carrie Gosch Early Learning Center in East Chicago, Indiana reached out to Chicago Children’s Museum (CCM) to develop and create a learning space dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) exploration specifically for early childhood learners.
Beginning with a windowless room, Chicago Children’s Museum developed, designed, and installed a warm, engaging, and multimodal classroom where students could ask questions, observe, test ideas, mess up, and most importantly, try again. To augment instruction and deepen STEM facilitation within the space, the museum created a teacher training curriculum to ensure all instructors could utilize the space to achieve the highest quality STEM engagement for the young students.
