Chicago Children’s Museum recognizes that all individuals—children and grownups—experience the world in different ways.
As we aspire to be a welcoming place for all visitors, we work to honor and nurture the fundamental values of diversity, equity, access, and inclusion (DEAI).
Our DEAI goals are to:
Examine these values continuously through the lens of healthy child development
Embed these values into our organizational culture and practices
Consider these values as we create partnerships, exhibits, and programs
Our DEAI initiatives include:
LGBTQ Inclusion
Chicago Children’s Museum strives to inform, inspire, and enable staff and the influential adults in children’s lives to affirm and celebrate the LGBTQ community.
Ability Inclusion
Chicago Children’s Museum believes an accessible and inclusive museum must address each visitor’s experience—making the museum’s facilities, offices, exhibits, services, programs, digital spaces, and staff welcoming to all. The museum’s access and inclusion initiative is recognized as a critical component of its planning and development.
Race and Ethnicity Inclusion
Chicago Children’s Museum works to ensure that people of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds are represented at CCM as both participants in and contributors to the experience.
