Secrets of Painting

Workshop Overview: During the Secrets of Painting workshop, students will explore the language and materials of this art form through discussion, observation, and hands-on activities. Students will experience the joy of creating art in CCM’s working Kraft Artabounds Studio, as they unlock the elements of painting.

Grade Level: 1-5

Workshop Goals and Objectives:
Students will:

• Explore the elements of color, value, line, shape, and pattern.
• Try authentic painting materials and tools.
• Engage in a series of investigative activities about basic art elements and apply them as they paint.
• Develop language skills by discussing the ways artists use color to create mood.
• Practice fine motor skills as they paint shapes and patterns.
• Enjoy the many sensory experiences that accompany creating artwork.
• Create art work that can be displayed in the classroom for added enjoyment and to facilitate further discussion of students’ discoveries.
